A Community With the Young at Heart...

Founded in Switzerland in 1975 by the French Dominican, Father Marie-Dominique Philippe, the Congregation of St. John is already present in 22 countries on all five continents and numbers nearly 1,000 Brothers (and priests) and Sisters. With a special desire to respond to Christ’s cry of thirst for souls on the Cross, the Community strives for a life centered in the pursuit of Wisdom: the Truth about God and man at its highest level. With three houses in the United States, the Community has a special love for young people and desires to help the Church reach out to them as part of the New Evangelization, especially by providing the context for their authentic personal growth and formation in the Catholic Faith.

The Community of Saint John in America already offers many opportunities for young people to draw near to Christ and His Church. The eight-day and thirty-day Eagle Eye Summer Institutes are only one of a whole series of apostolic efforts specifically geared towards young people, including: Campus Ministry programs at Seton Hall University, the University of Texas A&M, and Laredo Community College; summer mountaineering expeditions; children’s adoration programs around the world (www.childrenofhope.org) youth pilgrimages, camping excursions, and volunteer programs. The formation offered through Eagle Eye is part of this overall effort by the Community to bring the best in our Catholic Faith to young people of all ages.
