Eagle Eye School of Evangelization
What People Are Saying
This Spring, the School of Evangelization was not able to begin as was hoped, but one young person came to experience a little bit of what it would be like. She will be with us until July. This is what she says:
I have been living here in Princeville for over a month now, and it has been the best month of my life! You can do it too! The opportunity to live in the midst of the Sisters and Brothers of the Community of St. John- learning from them, praying with them, and working with them- has truly made a huge impact on my life! Although I am not looking forward to having to leave, I know that when I do, the formation that I am receiving will continue to transform the way I view and live life.
One of the best things about the School are the classes. I love them! They are challenging, but fascinating! The Brothers do not teach in order to fill our brains with facts- instead, they teach to plant in us a burning desire to know the truth and to always thirst to know more! Through Theology and Philosophy classes, they encourage us to search for God, for meaning and understanding, for our End- things that I never found in classes elsewhere!
The prayer life is awesome. Everyday there is Mass, Adoration, the Offices, Silent Prayer, opportunities for Confession- wow! Everything centers on God- unlike the way that it is “in the world”, where people seem to focus on God when it is convenient, or when they have time. Here, God is first ,and everything else is secondary. It doesn’t stop when you walk out of the Chapel either! Working is done out of love for God also- which is a way of prayer! Working with the Sisters and Brothers is always fun, and I am learning several interesting things- like how to sand/varnish wood, and how to work with leather sandals.
I am so glad that I am able to stay here at this point in my life! Not only am I learning valuable concepts, I am also, because I am submerged in the environment here, able to learn the “how” of putting it all into action in my life. It was not an easy decision to come here, but it was definitely the best one I have ever made. Everyone should do this!!!
